What do jump ring gauge and size mean?
Gauge is wire thickness, and a lower number means thicker wire. So 20g is our thickest, 22g is the everyday middle, and 24g is the finest. Size (2.8mm to 4mm) is the ring's diameter. A thicker, larger ring suits bolder chains, while a finer, smaller ring keeps dainty chains looking seamless.
Which jump ring should I buy first?
Most artists keep 22g 3mm and 22g 4mm on hand, plus 24g 3mm for the finest chains. The Jump Ring Starter Kit includes 120 rings in exactly those three sizes, so you can test welds and match every chain.
